What Does an RBT Do?
- Basic Job Description: RBTs provide behavior therapy interventions to help children with autism improve in communication, behavior, social, and functional development goals. Responsibilities include:
- Leading the majority of the interactive lessons and activities through positive reinforcement and play-based learning strategies.
- Observing the client’s progress and recording data to help adapt the behavior therapy plans and provide the best care possible.
- Updating and educating families to ensure effective therapy strategies carry over into the home environment.
- Work Location: Our RBTs can provide both clinical and in-home autism therapy services. While some home services are initially necessary, we encourage the transition to a clinic to develop communication and socialization skills. We have clinics located in the following areas:
- Connecticut
- Maryland
- New Jersey
- New York
- Pennsylvania
- Work Environment: RBTs report to board-certified behavior analysts (BCBAs), who develop each child’s treatment plan. Our clinics utilize the collaborative care model, where RBTs work in harmony with supervising BCBAs, clinical directors, and fellow RBTs/support staff. Our ABA model ensures that all providers are on the same page to align the treatment with each child’s needs.
