Experience
- Years of Experience: 27
During her sophomore year of college, Shelley found her passion for the behavior health field after she helped individuals on the spectrum for her volunteer placement. During this volunteer opportunity, she fell in love with the patients she helped and her co-workers! This ignited Shelley’s 27-year tenure in behavior health and the impact she brought to her surrounding communities. She coordinated two grants to offer autism resources to communities:
- Providing doctor’s offices with resources to help patients with autism.
- Teaching the best practices of early intervention to pre-schools and daycares.
From her undergrad education in psychology at University of North Carolina and her ABA master’s degree program at University of North Carolina, Shelley was interested in how individuals on the spectrum viewed the world. Her work with adults on the spectrum offered Shelley education on this unique perspective. As her career continued, she saw individuals with autism demonstrate amazing skills, abilities, and talents. Shelley respects the science of ABA and bases treatment off children’s interests and strengths!
