Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is an evidence-based autism therapy. ABA teaches children new skills by breaking goals into small, achievable steps and using positive reinforcement to build on each success. For children in Northeast PA, our ABA autism therapy focuses on communication, social development, behavior and daily independence — all delivered through child-led, play-based sessions at our Northeast PA clinics.
Helping Hands Family works with most major insurers, including Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, and Optum / United Behavioral Health and accepts Medicaid in certain Maryland counties. Because coverage varies by plan, your care coordinator runs a verification of benefits before you start, so you’ll know exactly what’s covered and any co-pay up front. Private-pay options are also available.
ABA therapy is most effective when it begins early, and children can typically start as toddlers. Once your child has an autism diagnosis and a doctor’s order, our Baltimore team works to begin services as quickly as possible, there is no reason to wait to reach out.

To begin ABA therapy and for insurance to authorize services, a formal autism diagnosis and a doctor’s order for ABA therapy are required. If your child hasn’t been evaluated yet, get in touch and we’ll help point you in the right direction.
After you submit the form, a member of our admissions team reaches out to gather a few details and verify your insurance benefits. From there we collect your child’s autism diagnosis and doctor’s order, and a BCBA completes an assessment to build an individualized treatment plan. Once approved, your child begins regular sessions with our clinical team of RBTs and a BCBA.
